Rum Donuts

1⅓ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ sugar
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. nutmeg
½ milk
1 egg, beaten
2 tbs. melted butter
2 tbs rum

Preheat the deep fryer to 365 degrees. In a mixing bowl, sift the dry ingredients together two or three times. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, egg, butter, and rum. Add the dry ingredients and beat just until the flour disappears.

To cook them, add the batter to your Popeil donut maker and squeeze off as many as will comfortably fit in your deep fryer. After 3 to 5 minutes or so, they will be golden brown on one side. Gently flip them over to continue cooking. When they are nice and golden brown take them out to drain on paper towels. Serve warm. (These are good with powdered sugar sprinkled on them.
